2013 Hagafen Cabernet Franc
Napa Valley, Estate
The 2013 vintage for Napa Valley is extraordinary. Drought conditions defined the growing sea-
son and led to one of Napa’s earliest harvests on record, the product of which displayed "off-the-chart levels of concentration” (Galloni) and "consistency in quality, depth of f lavor, texture, freshness, vibrancy and richness [that] was absolutely mind-boggling” (Parker). The critics agree. Robert Parker writes “2013 may turn out to be the finest vintage I have experienced in tasting North Coast varietals over the last 37 years. It's a game-changer in terms of the consistency of quality, the depth of quality, and the across-the-board excellence for so many wines.” Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes, "Simply put, the Napa Cabernets are some of the most profound, riveting, young wines I have tasted anywhere in the world,” and he goes on to say "When all is said and done, there is little doubt 2013 will go down as one of the all-time great vintages for Napa Valley.”
The fleshy, supple nose of this exquisite wine wows you with violets, red currants and sun warmed Lincoln Rose. This flows to a mouth bursting with flavors of the deep forest glen: rich earth, deep dark black cherries and rose hips. The lush, round, velvety mouth is mixed with a tannic structure that is beginning to soften and will continue to do so for years to come.
